About M.J.
New York-born and based M.J. O’Toole specializes in portrait, fashion, and event photography, counting among his clients both fashion agencies and nonprofit groups. His background includes film and video and extensive experience in related digital marketing, as well as graphic and web design.
He earned his master’s in digital photography from New York’s prestigious School of Visual Arts in 2020, where he was able to concentrate on his fine-art work. M.J.’s thesis project, titled Persona, uses digital compositing to explore the complexity of ordinary lives, showing subjects both as they appear to others and as they see themselves in a single image. This work was exhibited at Manhattan’s SVA Gramercy Gallery in Fall 2021.
